SOMO makes the process of getting into a space of your own simple, affordable and enjoyable. And how we do that is by helping arrange finance solutions, finding the ideal block of land, and building a home with your needs and wants in mind.

Take the first step towards homeownership – starting with these three:

1. Arranging finance

The first step starts with qualifying for finance and setting (and sticking to!) a budget. Once we have helped you with this initial stage, we’ll break it down into a few key areas. One is working out how much money you have available to purchase land while the other is working out how much will be left to spend on the house. From here we can easily figure out which suburbs in Perth are best suited to your budget and of course your own personal requirements, like proximity to schools.

Also, as First Home Owner Grant specialists, SOMO’s first-home buyer team will help you maximise all of the government grants you’re entitled to, including the $10,000 FHOG and Keystart’s low deposit home loans.

Here are a few handy finance tips to keep in mind.

Finding land

When selecting a block, we need to consider a few things including size, price, orientation and restrictive building covenants, to name a few. Once a block has been selected, you will sign an ‘Offer and Acceptance’ document. This is your land contract and will form the first important part of your home and land package. When signing up always ask for as long as possible for formal finance approval. Generally, you will need a $500 deposit to secure your land.

Building your home

Selecting your home is easy with an experienced SOMO New Homes Consultant by your side. Working within your budget, we’ll help you decide things like the number of bedrooms, types of appliances, the look of your outdoor landscaping and garage requirements.

Building a home is a major milestone and, like all adventures, you just need to take that first step.
